Lily Neal, Owner and Manager


Lily has 24 years of experience in the book trade.  She has lived in Topsham for many years and takes an active interest in the town's concerns.  She is a talented musician too.  Lily is also now a regular bell ringer at St Margaret's Church in Topsham.



Florence, Computer Records Assistant
Florence has joined The Topsham Bookshop team and will be helping with computer work on Saturdays and during holiday times.
Florence lives locally in Topsham and when not studying, plays Netball, Rugby, Football and Cricket. She enjoys reading fiction too so plenty of scope for her at the Bookshop.


Lester, Bookshop Assistant

Lester is the newest member of our team. He comes from the Crediton area and previously worked as a Parenting Manager for the Catholic Children’s Society.

He enjoys the fiction of Vladimir Nabokov, John Updike and PG Wodehouse.  
He also likes reading books about theology, history, cinema, art and architecture.
Along with others in the team, he is also a regular bell-ringer.



Vanessa Ascough, Bookshop Assistant

Vanessa also occasionally covers days at the bookshop.  She has lived in Topsham for 18 years and has been very involved with the British Legion whilst here.  She is now retired but previously worked as Editor of the magazine for the Centre of Leadership Studies at the University of Exeter.  She has extensively researched her family tree in particular her Grandfather who was the second British pilot to attempt to fly around the world in 1924.  She loves to read biographies and autobiographies and is also undertaking recordings of Topsham residents to be stored at the Museum.


Helen Wakely
Volunteer Assistant for Website and Facebook and Saturday girl!
Helen lives in Topsham and has joined the team to help maintain the website, Facebook pages and book-keeping for the bookshop.  
She also looks after the shop on a Saturday.  She is a qualified management accountant and previously worked for Families for Children Adoption Agency. She now volunteers at Topsham Library and Museum.  She has a passion for reading and family history research.
